Frequently Asked Questions

What is the time commitment for therapy?

How much does therapy cost?

In the beginning, we recommend weekly or bi-weekly sessions (every other week) so we can get a big picture of your needs, and jump right in to start working on your goals. As you make progress, we can reduce the frequency of sessions.

Individual sessions range from 50 minutes to 1 1/2 hours. Initial intakes are an 50-60 minutes.

How do I pay for therapy?

We firmly believe in decolonizing therapy, and think that finances should not be a barrier to receiving quality care. We do our best to offer affordable counseling in the state of North Carolina. The rate varies depending on the type of session, and its length.

Jackie's standard rate is $150 for a 50 minute session, $180 for an initial intake.

We understand that this is an investment in your well-being and health, so we offer a FREE 15-minute phone consultation to see if we are a good fit. To schedule a consultation, fill out the contact form to let me know when is the best time to call you.

Do you take insurance?

Currently we are out of network with insurance, but Jackie accepts insurance through Headway, which is a third party. This means that she is not individually paneled with insurance companies. She is happy to provide a Superbill (receipt for services) upon request. Many insurance companies reimburse for Out-of Network (OON) services, so please check with your provider to confirm coverage.

Insurance coverage she accepts through Headway are: Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Cigna, Aetna, Oxford, and Oscar.

Payment is either through self-pay or through insurance.  It is due at the time of service. Acceptable forms of payment include credit/debit card. You may check with your insurance for reimbursement. Please verify specific requirements for reimbursement with your insurance provider before your first session.

Self-pay payments are processed through Stripe on SimplePractice, a HIPAA secure platform.

Why do you not take insurance through your practice?

What is your cancellation policy?

Because your session reserves a slot for you, a 24 hour notice is required to avoid a full session fee.

As trauma-informed providers that believe in decolonizing therapy. I believe in treating symptoms, not disorders that have typically been Eurocentric.

Insurances typically require a diagnosis, which goes on a person's medical record. Some people prefer not to have therapy on their record. Also, this allows us to make treatment as flexible as possible. We understand that some people need to use insurance to make mental health more accessible, so Jackie uses Headway.

Do you offer sliding scale/discounted sessions?

We offer a few slots for clients that are pro-bono and reduced-fee appointments.  Please inquire with your preferred therapist if there are slots available.
